Vibe Tutor Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 27, 2026
Overview
Vibe Tutor (com.vibetech.tutor) is an educational app from Vibe Tech LLC for teens ages 13–17. It helps with organization and study, offers gaming-themed rewards, optional AI chats, and optional internet radio. It is not directed to children under 13. This policy explains what data Vibe Tutor stores, what leaves your device, who receives it, and how you can remove it.
Vibe Tutor does not create app accounts. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, or call and SMS logs. We do not serve ads, and we do not sell personal data.
Who we are
- Developer: Vibe Tech LLC, 2529 William Brunson Rd, Summerton, SC, USA
- App: Vibe Tutor (
com.vibetech.tutor) - Privacy contact: freshwaterbruce2@gmail.com
Data stored on your device
Most Vibe Tutor data stays on your device, in app storage or a local SQLite database. This includes:
- homework and assignment entries
- schedules and study progress
- rewards, achievements, and points
- preferences and parent-control settings (such as the Parent Zone PIN)
- Tutor and Buddy chat history
- in-app learning statistics (these are saved only on your device and are not sent to us)
- a random installation identifier created by the app
The Data Management screen has Export Data and Import Data options for files you choose to create. Please do not treat them as a guaranteed backup or restore service.
Data that leaves your device
All network traffic from the app uses HTTPS; unencrypted HTTP is blocked. The following data leaves your device:
- App verification: a random installation identifier and a Google Play Integrity token. These confirm that the app was obtained from Google Play and let us apply AI usage limits. Our server keeps only a one-way keyed hash of the identifier, never the raw identifier, and issues a short-lived session token that expires automatically.
- AI features (only when you use them): your chat messages and recent conversation context, plus any assignment titles, homework text, progress statistics, or schedule details the feature you asked for needs (for example task breakdown, homework parsing, progress summaries, or schedule suggestions).
- Reports (optional): if you report an AI message, we receive the report category. The message text is included only if you choose to attach it.
- Safety checks: the backend runs automated content-safety checks. A small number of messages that are hard to classify may be sent for a separate automated safety review.
- Radio (only when you play a station): see Internet radio below.
- Fonts: the app loads fonts from Google Fonts and cdnfonts.com. Those hosts receive your IP address and standard request information when the fonts load.
AI processing
When you use an AI feature, the app sends your request to our backend only. The app never contacts AI providers directly. Our backend forwards the request to OpenRouter, which routes it to AI model providers: currently DeepSeek first, with Google Gemini as a fallback. With each request we ask for zero data retention and no use of the data for training. Those providers handle requests under their own terms and privacy policies. Usage limits apply to AI features. Core features that do not use AI keep working when the limit is reached.
Our backend may record content-free operational metrics about AI requests, such as success or failure, which model tier answered, token counts and cost, and request timing. These metrics contain no chat text and no device or installation identifier. We do not log chat text.
Microphone and voice input
Voice input for adding homework is optional, and a microphone is not required. On devices that support it, Vibe Tutor may ask for microphone permission. Speech is converted to text by the speech-recognition service in your device's system software, which is not part of Vibe Tutor. That service may be provided by Google and may process audio under its own terms. Vibe Tutor receives only the resulting transcript text. It never uploads or stores microphone audio. Voice input may not be available on every device, and typing is always available instead. Vibe Tutor does not request camera access.
Internet radio
Internet radio is optional. When you play a station, your device connects directly to that station's stream host (currently SomaFM, LISTEN.moe, or WQXR). The host receives your IP address and basic request information, such as the stream requested and device or user-agent details. Vibe Tutor does not relay radio audio through our servers and does not send your listening activity to us.
Service providers
We share data only as needed to provide the features you use:
- OpenRouter and the AI model providers it routes to (currently DeepSeek and Google Gemini), for AI features.
- Google, for Play Integrity verification, Cloud Run hosting of our backend, and Firestore storage of usage counters and reports.
- Radio stream hosts you choose to play (currently SomaFM, LISTEN.moe, and WQXR). They receive your IP address and standard request information.
- Web font hosts (Google Fonts and cdnfonts.com). They receive your IP address when fonts load.
These providers may process data in other countries, and their own terms and privacy policies also apply.
What our servers store, and for how long
- Usage counters: daily and monthly AI usage counts, stored in Firestore and linked only to the hashed installation identifier. These counters may be kept after the period they cover.
- Reports: the report category, the hashed installation identifier, and the submission time. If you chose to attach message text, that text is marked to expire 30 days after submission. Automatic removal depends on our cloud retention settings, which we have not yet confirmed. Until then, attached text may be kept longer.
- Session tokens: temporary; they expire automatically.
- Request logs: our hosting provider may automatically record standard request information (such as IP address, request path, time, and user agent). These logs are kept under Google Cloud's log retention settings.
We do not keep account profiles.
Deleting your data
Remove everything on your device: uninstall Vibe Tutor, or go to Android Settings > Apps > Vibe Tutor > Storage > Clear storage. Either one deletes all local app data, including chat history, schedules, learning statistics, and the installation identifier.
Reset inside the app: open More > Parent on a phone (or Parent Zone in the sidebar on a larger screen), enter the Parent Zone PIN, and go to Parent Dashboard > Data Management > Reset App. Reset App clears homework, achievements, points, rewards, and sensory settings. It does not clear chat history, schedules, learning statistics, or the installation identifier. To remove those, use Clear storage or uninstall.
Server-side records: AI usage counters and any reports you submit are linked to a one-way hashed identifier and cannot be deleted from within the app. To ask about a report you submitted, contact freshwaterbruce2@gmail.com.
Your choices
- You can skip AI features, voice input, and radio. Core study features work without them.
- You can deny microphone permission.
- You can reset, clear, or uninstall the app at any time, as described above.
Security
- HTTPS for all network communication; unencrypted HTTP is blocked.
- Short-lived session tokens for backend access.
- A PIN-protected Parent Zone for sensitive settings.
- Usage limits and automated content-safety checks on AI features.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Age scope
Vibe Tutor is intended for teens ages 13–17 and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the app, contact us at freshwaterbruce2@gmail.com so we can review it.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when our practices change and will update the date at the top of this page.
